About Me

My Wife and Me in Venice
My name is Jeremy. I started this site in 2011 out of my passion for personal finance.
I am crazy passionate about personal finance.
In my circle of friends I’m the go to guy when it comes to finances. I’ve helped with everything from getting a steal of a deal on a new car to helping a buddy launch an incredible non-profit.
I’ve also been called a number nerd a time or two.
My own journey into the world of finance started in college when I went to work selling life and health insurance. It was an incredible learning opportunity, but after seeing “behind the curtain” I realized just how predatory the financial services industry is.
That kind of career wasn’t for me.
After that, I found myself in real estate. I became a Realtor, primarily focusing on rental properties and property management. I spent 2 years learning the ins and outs of real estate. But, 2 years of dealing with tenants was enough to wear on my nerves.
I decided to go into the world of corporate finance, which is where I have been for the last 5 years.
I currently work for a commercial lender and oversee the day to day management of a portfolio of around $150 million in outstandings.
The commercial side of finance is interesting, but my heart is in helping people. Like the title of the site says, I want to teach people to spend smarter, beat debt and grow wealthy.
Nothing pains me more than seeing someone making a poor financial decision. I hate the fact that an uninformed decision can have negative financial implications on someone’s life for years.
It brings me great joy to help people – to be a stepping stone on someone’s path to financial freedom.
My goal with this site is to share all everything I have learned along my journey. That’s not to say I have everything figured out. But I really do hope that I have something to share that makes an impact in your life.
Wishing you health, wealth and happiness,
Jeremy - Personal Finance Whiz
