We are a small Committee of riders and support persons who fund raise throughout the year with an annual contribution to our local Hospital Casterton Memorial Hospital.
What makes this such an enjoyable experience for us is the comradeship, challenge, love of cycling and for many, introduction to cycling and the pleasure and satisfaction of doing something positive to support our hospital which in turn benefits our community. Registrations are proceeding normally and the M2M is weather forecast is looking good for the weekend.
There is plenty of parking and the re-developed site is perfect for the M2M. Riders who will be riding at dusk should be carrying lights and be able to turn these on once the official lighting up time occurs. Lights MUST be located on the bike and not on a helmet or person as per the road law. Riders and team support should have the correct Fluoro vest for night riding.

Please follow the instructions carefully. All participants will be required to complete a Covid Declaration, within 24 hours of the event commencing. The declaration forms will be included in the Team packs - issued to each Team Captain, either on the Friday Night or Saturday Morning by the Ride Director on each route.
We are very conscious that all participants in the M2M are working hard to raise funds for their health service and with this in mind, we aim to keep registration fees as low as possible. We are preparing to conduct a Covid SAFE event in March and that will require some modifications to the way we normally run the event. Specific Details will be provided over the next couple of weeks. It has been a great pleasure to work with a team of very committed, enthusiastic and capable people. Our volunteers are a unique aspect of our event and they are vital to us in providing a supported and safe event. They are members of various groups like Rotary and Lions and provide assistance as corner marshals on each of our 3 routes from the Murray to Port Fairy.
Our sponsors and supporters are also very important to us in being able to run an event of this size without having to employ people, so we can minimise our administration costs and keep the registration fees to a minimum. Given the very positive news that we only had 1 new Covid case in Victoria today and the Nos in hospital are now down to 15, we are very enthusiastic that the Covid strategy is working and hopeful that we can run the M2M. Therefore our hard working Committee members are very busy ensuring we can run the M2M! Jeff is working on applying to each local government authorities for permission to run the M2M through their locality, completing the risk assessments, emergency master plans and event management documentation.

We eagerly await the news conference each morning to see that the Stage 3 or 4 Covid restrictions are having the desired impact on lowering the transmission and effects of the pandemic. Given the latest hopeful in lowering the curve, we have decided to begin organising for the M2M event, subject to Health Authorities advice. We will be guided by the circumstances and health advice that exist in January and February before we start accepting registrations for the event in March.
But Team Captains can commence their team preparations in the knowledge that we are organising to run the M2M. In addition, we will need to meet the various official bodies Covid risk assessments required by the many local government areas we pass through.
This has been a huge task that has taken about 4 weeks to finalise and involved ing each team captain, then organising the funds transfer process. Congratulations to Timboon Cruisers who were the last team to receive their refund and a special mention to the Hamilton Community House team who donated all their registrations fees to the M2M, especially given the current employment outlook. In addition, we received a large of s expressing appreciation and support to the M2M Committee for all their efforts in getting the event ready, but were not able to deliver to our very loyal and supportive teams.
It is with great sadness that we recognise the enthusiastic and dedicated work of Errol Carter who passed away recently in Port Fairy. The Committee and everyone on the ride over many years will remember Errol stopping behind a team and offering friendly assistance and ensuring we keep safe on the ro.
Errol is survived by his partner Kerryn and we pass on our best wishes to her and the family. If you are a new or an old team and are looking to upgrade your M2M infrastructure — here we have a large 14 bike — 7 each side bike rack that will fit into a 6 x 10 trailer.
This rack has been used for 12 years on the M2M by a local team, who have now disbanded and we are offering it to anyone who can use it for the M2M in coming years. The rack is very solid, no rust, but it will need some basic remedial work, painting etc, a local south west physiotherapist says it is well deed engineeredgreat ergonomically and commercially made by RA Steel Fabricating.
